Two sold-out performances of Don Carlo at the Bolshoi Theatre

On April 15 and 18 Plácido Domingo returns to Verdi’s Don Carlo for two sold-out performances at the Bolshoi Theatre, singing the role of the heroic Marquis of Posa -a role he first sang in June 2017 at the Wiener Staatsoper.

About Rodrigo, Marquis of Posa, Domingo has said “I long considered Don Carlo to be one of Verdi’s greatest achievements. Earlier in my career, I had the honor of performing the title tenor role opposite a number of distinguished baritones as Rodrigo. I always felt that Verdi’s deep admiration for the freedom-loving Rodrigo shines through in his beautiful music. It has been a thrill for me to take on this gratifying role myself."

The cast also includes Yusif Eyvazov as Don Carlo, Anna Netrebko and Hibla Gerzmava alternating as Elisabeth de Valois, Ferruccio Furlanetto as King Phillip II, Agunda Kulaeva as Princess Eboli and Denis Makarov as The Grand Inquisitor. Paolo Carignani leads the Bolshoi Orchestra in a production directed by Daniele Abbado.
